Adderall and alcohol

Like any other drugs, taking Adderall and alcohol together is not recommended. In fact, this is a dangerous combination.

Adderall is a nervous system stimulant that works by altering the production of certain brain chemicals. On the other hand, alcohol is a potent compound that tends to affect the brain. Using these chemically active compounds concurrently results in different side effects.

One of the common side effects of Adderall and alcohol is that the user could have higher alcohol tolerance. Although this might seem to be a beneficial side effect, healthcare practitioners warn of its potential long term effects on health. Prolonged partying and intake of alcohol often lead to more blood alcohol content. Since Adderall counters the effects of alcohol, the user feels inebriated taking even more alcohol.

Once the body’s alcohol limit is achieved, it will spiral down creating potentially life-threatening scenario. Adderall and alcohol use has been observed among casual Adderall users. While experts warn of its long-term effects, users seem not to understand the increased risks they are subjecting their body to.    

Long term abuse of Adderall and alcohol can lead to increased blood pressure plus its myriad of complications. In addition, increased blood alcohol intake, in itself, is considered a serious health risk.
